Problem
A very common issue when manufacturing plastic products is high levels of suspended solids present in the process water used for temperature control as part of the plastic injection, blow molding or extrusion process. The build-up of particulate in a cooling system components such as heat exchangers and tooling has a highly negative effect on the system’s performance and running costs with increasing maintenance, downtime costs and product quality and waste.
The Client already had a number of alternative filtration technologies installed, but were unfortunately, proving to be ineffective as the fouling issue was getting worse.
Solution
Following our invitation to visit site by water treatment specialists Anker Elemental Ltd, IWF proposed the use of our Velocitek OVF 350 model automatic self-cleaning filtration system, connected in side-stream providing continuous removal and protection to the cooling water system. This solution provided the client with full control over the water quality and cleaned the system up and reported to us that.
