Application
| Large volumes of water are used in food processing plants, especially fresh produce, for washing the food products before they are packaged.
However, this process often results not only in large volumes of water being used and the associated water costs, but also large effluent costs. Looking to reduce water and effluent costs, IWF were approached to remove solids and fine particulates from the process water to enable the water to be reused for washing. Solution
| IWF were able to offer a bespoke solution using various filtration technologies to achieve the desired outcomes.
Velocitek OVF 1200 to remove the bulk of the large solids at the front end of the rig. The water then passes through a Cartridge Filter to polish the water to a fine degree of filtration (less than 1 micron). Finally, a UV unit was required to sterilize and disinfect the water, removing all bacteria and enabling the water to be reused as wash water in the pre-packing process.
